Japanese Bench

This project is a small bench seat designed with through tenons and wedged peg joints.

Students will use hand tools to produce angled mortise and tenon joints and shape the top and sides.  This will involve joinery and hand skills including planing, chiselling, sawing, sanding and finishing.

While the focus is on making we will also discuss the use of materials, properties of timber, sustainability and socially responsible design.

The finished project will be yours to take home.

This course is beginner to intermediate level.

An apron and a set of tools will be provided for your use while on the course.

Location: Building C, Bermondsey Campus, Collett Road, SE16 4DJ.  We are a 3 min walk from Bermondsey Tube Station.

Course fees shall be paid in full before the start of the course, unless we have agreed an alternative arrangement.

Your course fee will be refunded provided you have given a minimum of three week's notice prior to the start date of the course.  If for any reason you can't attend the course you've booked, you can transfer your credit onto a course at a later date, provided that you give a minimum of 2 weeks notice.

Should we be unable to run a session due to unforeseen circumstances then we will either run the session at the soonest available date or refund the remaining portion of the course.

Should you be unable attend a session once your course has started we will try our best to make up the time at a later date, however, this may not always be possible.

In the unlikely event that we do not have enough bookings for a course, the start date may be postponed, but we will give you 2 weeks notice if this is the case.
