PLEASE NOTE - ALL COURSES FROM OCTOBER 2016 WILL BE HELD AT OUR NEW PREMISES:
SUGARHOUSE STUDIOS, BERMONDSEY CAMPUS, COLLETT ROAD, BERMONDSEY, SE16 4DJ. We are a 3 min walk from Bermondsey Tube.
Welcome to the East London School of Furniture Making run by Emma Leslie and Rhiannon Wilkey. We run furniture making and woodwork courses starting from the absolute beginner level.
We are both trained cabinet and furniture makers who specialise in designing and making bespoke work to commission.
Our courses are designed for beginners and intermediate level makers and are project based.
We run the courses from our workshop in Bermondsey, which allows students access to our working processes, and the potential to observe and discuss different making techniques.
Each student will be provided with an apron and the necessary hand tools for the duration of the course.
The first couple of weeks will be dedicated to practice joints, which will involve marking out, sawing and pairing with chisels. We will then move on to the set project where you will complete a piece of work to take home. During the course we will discuss tools and their purposes, timber types and how to select and identify qualities and defects, how to work at home, joint structure and strength and finishing.
You will leave the course with the basic skills and understanding necessary to continue onto a follow up course with us, or to pursue as an interest elsewhere.
Please see our courses list for dates and costs. All price are inclusive of VAT.
We also provide gift vouchers by post or email. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Course fees shall be paid in full before the start of the course, unless we have agreed an alternative arrangement.
Your course fee will be refunded provided you have given a minimum of three week's notice prior to the start date of the course. If for any reason you can't attend the course you've booked, you can transfer your credit onto a course at a later date, provided that you give a minimum of 2 weeks notice.
Should we be unable to run a session due to unforeseen circumstances then we will either run the session at the soonest available date or refund the remaining portion of the course.
Should you be unable attend a session once your course has started we will try our best to make up the time at a later date, however, this may not always be possible.
In the unlikely event that we do not have enough bookings for a course, the start date may be postponed, but we will give you 2 weeks notice if this is the case.
